Job Description:

The HSE Manager is responsible for overseeing and implementing safety, health, and environmental programs within on site, to develop procedures, risk assessments, method statements, checklist and templates for the project in accordance with the Client's specifications and in alignment with the local legislations and Bi-Laws. The primary goal is to create a safe and healthy workplace, minimize environmental impact, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations. To manage the site HSE department and the client's expectations related to all HSE related matters on site.

The work location is at northern cape, close to De Aar town

Duties:

  • Discharge his duties as the CR8(5) on the Wind Farm (when necessary)
  • Ensure legal compliance with OHS Act, ISO health and safety standards, customer requirements, as well as any other applicable legislation at all times
  • Conduct all internal training on employees. (Induction, Correct use of PPE,etc; Assist in compiling risk assessments. (Baseline, Issue and continuous); Ensure that daily risk assessments are completed correctly, assessed and distributed. Conduct risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop control measures to mitigate risks. Monitor and review risk assessments regularly to ensure their effectiveness
  • Ensure that all appointments are done as per the site SHE organogram and the communication of the responsibilities to the appointee is explained
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures and first aid protocols. Conduct regular emergency drills to ensure preparedness
  • Investigate accidents, near-misses, and incidents to determine root causes and implement preventive measures. Analyze incident data to identify trends and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences
  • Conduct routine inspections of construction sites to identify potential hazards, assess risks, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Document inspection findings and implement corrective action

Necessary Knowledge and Skills

  • Years experiecne on construction safety related
  • Familiar with the construction activities and limitations of wind farm, substation and transmission line, OHS Act and Construction regulations;
  • Understanding of OHSAS 45001 and ISO 14001
  • Understanding of applicable legislation
  • Knowledgeable about HR / Labour Law
