JOB DESCRIPTION
The Quality Manager will oversee, inspect, and document the quality of all activities related to the delivery of components, pre-assembly, mechanical, electrical installation and Commissioning on De Aar site
WORK LOCATION
DeAar town at Northern Cape
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Perform thorough inspections of all delivered wind turbine components upon arrival at the site. Verify that all component documentation, including quality certificates, material
2. Inspect the interface between the foundation/transition piece and the first tower section, ensuring correct alignment, leveling, and grouting quality.
3. Document and report findings, ensuring accurate and timely communication with project management and relevant stakeholders.
4. Collaborate with the construction and engineering teams to address and rectify any identified issues or defects.
5. Adhere to and enforce safety standards and regulations during all inspections.
6. Align and implement the Quality Management Plan in accordance with the Project Requirements
7. Develop, Implement and execute the ITP for all construction phases, holding points, and sign-offs.
8. Identify, record, and document all quality deviations, defects, or non-conformances. Track the implementation and effectiveness of Corrective Action Reports (CARs) until final resolution.
9. Maintain a comprehensive and traceable record of all inspection reports, test results, calibration certificates for tools (e.g., torque wrenches), and final handover documentation (As-Built files).
10. Participate in internal and external Quality Audits as required by the client or regulatory bodies.
11. Develop Quality related procedures
QUALIFICATION
Diploma or Senior Certificate in Mechanical / Electrical / Industrial Engineering / NDT /Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
SKILLS
- 5 years’ experience in the Renewable Energy industry or Construction
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear reporting and effective coordination with technicians, supervisors, and client representatives
- Proficiency in using inspection tools and equipment
- Experience in managing Non-Conformances relate Quality.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, structural, and high-voltage electrical systems, particularly as they relate to wind turbine technology.
- Meticulous approach to reviewing blueprints, specifications, and data logs.
- Ability to conduct or support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring quality issues.
- Ability to work in challenging outdoor environments, including confined spaces and at significant heights (after necessary training).
