The reason for this role:
Reporting into the Contracts and Procurement Manager, the Warehousing and Inventory Lead will oversee the efficient planning, procurement, and management of materials across all projects. The purpose of this position is to support continuous operations and drive cost-effective delivery by optimizing forecasting, inventory control, supplier performance, and warehouse management.
Based in our Melbourne office, the role is critical in ensuring reliability, compliance and operational efficiency within the region. This position will also manage all Warehouse Coordinators and will be required to travel to site as needed throughout the year.
What will you be doing?
- Manage and lead a team of warehouse staff by providing guidance, training, and performance feedback, fostering a collaborative and safety-focused culture, and planning for team expansion to support growing operational demands and workforce development.
- Ensure Material Availability - plan and forecast demand to guarantee timely supply of materials for project and maintenance needs.
- Maintain Accurate Inventory Control - monitor stock levels, minimize excess and obsolete materials, and improve inventory turnover through system-based management.
- Strengthen Supplier and Logistics Performance - manage supplier relationships and logistics operations to ensure quality, reliability, and compliance with trade and cost standards.
- Enhance Forecasting and Planning Accuracy - use analytical models and system tools (SAP, CES, DAS) to align material plans with actual consumption and project timelines.
- Implement Effective Warehouse and Safety Management - oversee warehouse operations, optimize space utilization, and maintain compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Control Costs and Drive Efficiency - continuously identify and implement initiatives to reduce procurement, inventory, and warehousing costs while maintaining service quality.
- Provide Transparent Reporting and Insights - deliver accurate reports, audits, and analysis to support decision-making and continuous improvement in the supply chain.
- Optimize Procurement and Sourcing - develop and execute cost-effective procurement strategies, including localized sourcing, to reduce lead times and total cost of ownership.
What does your background look like?
- Cert III in warehousing operations or similar in warehousing logistics or supply chain.
- An Engineering Degree or Diploma would be highly regarded.
- 5 years (+) experience with warehousing and inventory management and 3 years (+) within the energy, renewables, oil and gas or infrastructure industries would also be highly regarded.
- Previous experience using Microsoft applications, especially in Excel and outlook.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data effectively.
- Current Australian Driver’s License.
- Mandarin language skills are advantageous but not a requirement.
