Job Description Guideline:

The Electrical Engineer is accountable for the management of project electrical interfaces with clients, designers, suppliers, and constructors of Goldwind Africa’s projects.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Exploit and manage electrical BOP partners for wind farms (design houses, subcontractors, suppliers).
  2. Manage project electrical proposal process, BOQ preparation, and cost estimation; assist with EPC bidding submissions in South Africa and other African countries.
  3. Clarify and negotiate scope of work/specifications with clients or contractors; identify changes and associated costs.
  4. Develop and implement engineering systems, tools, documents, and procedures for Goldwind Africa.
  5. Manage design and documentation reviews with external engineering resources to ensure compliance.
  6. Support procurement of electrical plant, equipment, and materials from scope development through commissioning.
  7. Support Project Manager in managing BOP contractor and overseeing construction/commissioning, including Grid Connection and Compliance Testing.
  8. Follow IMS requirements and contribute to effectiveness through participation and consultation.
  9. Responsible for QA/QC of engineering, construction, pre‑commissioning, and commissioning of electrical works.
  10. Develop project quality plan, method statements, quality procedures, inspection/test plans, and checklists.
  11. Prepare weekly status reports, two‑week look‑ahead inspection programs, daily inspection reports, and monthly progress reports.
  12. Verify, inspect, and witness electrical components in substations (transformers, switchgears, panels, UPS, generators, SCADA systems, etc.).
  13. Ensure commissioning activities are completed safely, efficiently, and cost‑effectively; confirm PPE availability.
  14. Participate in EPC contractor progress meetings, interface coordination meetings, and supervise work progress.


Qualification Requirements:

  • Education Degree: Bachelor and above
  • Major: Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current), Protection (Electrical or Technology)
  • Language: English
  • Years of Working: 6
  • Related Experience: Not limited


Knowledge & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional registration (ECSA Pr.Eng/Tech/Technician or candidate eligible to register)
  • General knowledge of design/simulation software and proficiency in MS Office
  • Strong communication and coordination capacity
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical engineering principles, practices, and methods


Professional Certificates:

  • B.Tech Electrical, BSc or similar
  • Certificate Level: NQF Level 7


Capability Requirements:
