DESCRIPTION:

 

Inspect work areas to ensure compliance to all relevant contract, National and site HSE Regulations. Monitor work activities and record relevant information. Audit sub-contractor compliance to HSE plan and applicable legislative requirements and Report to relevant stakeholders as required – Project Team, GW Africa, Client

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Discharge his duties as the CR8(5) on the Wind Farm
  2. Implementing and management of Health and Safety systems and plans; Always ensure legal compliance with OHS Act and MHS Act, ISO health and safety standards, customer requirements, as well as any other applicable legislation
  3. Conduct all internal H&S induction training to all employees and contractors at the Project. (Induction, HIRA, Correct use of PPE, Safe behavior and awareness
  4. Assist in compiling risk assessments. (Baseline, Issue and continuous
  5. Ensure that daily risk assessments are completed correctly, assessed and distributed
  6. Manage safety performance of subcontractors. Ensure no sub-contractor is permitted to work on site without being in possession of a safety file
  7. Compiling and updating of health and safety file
  8. Ensure all employees/visitors are inducted prior to being permitted to enter or work on site
  9. Ensure that all appointments are done as per the site SHE organogram and the communication of the responsibilities to the appointee is explained
  10. Prepare the site emergency evacuation plan and ensure all supervisors and contractors are supplied with a copy of the plan
  11. Assist and support environmental officer when not on site
  12. Ensure that all monthly and weekly applicable inspections are done
  13. Revision of HSE Plan when applicable and required
  14. Conduct accident/incident investigations and reporting

 

WORKING RELATIONSHIP:

 

  1. The HSE Officer shall function as part of the Project Site Team
  2. Liaise with Goldwind HO, contractors, external suppliers, and the client representatives

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Diploma or certificate in HSE
  2. SACPMP Registration

 

BASIC SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:

 

  1. Extremely organized and efficient individual
  2. Work well under pressure and have impressive stress management
  3. Strong oral and written communication skills
  4. Proclivity for catching errors and enacting appropriate changes
  5. Excellent analytical ability
  6. Industry specific experience
  7. Clear Criminal record
  8. English Speaking
  9. MS Office software Familiar with the construction activities and limitations of wind farm, substation, and transmission line
  10. OHS Act; Construction regulations;
  11. First aid Level 3
  12. Understanding of OHSAS 45001 and ISO 14001
  13. Understanding of applicable legislation
