Job Description Guideline
The Electrical Engineer is accountable for managing project electrical interfaces with clients, designers, suppliers, and constructors of Goldwind Africa’s projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Exploit and manage electrical BOP partners for wind farms, including but not limited to design houses, electrical construction subcontractors, main electrical components suppliers etc.;
- Manage project electrical proposal process, BOQ preparation, and cost estimation; assist with bidding under EPC scope in South Africa and other African countries.
- Clarify and negotiate scope of work and specifications with clients/contractors; identify changes and associated costs.
- Develop and implement engineering systems, tools, documents, and procedures for Goldwind Africa.
- Manage design and documentation reviews with external engineering resources to ensure compliance with project objectives.
- Support procurement of electrical plant, equipment, and materials from scope development through commissioning, including resolution of supply issues.
- Support Project Manager in managing BOP contractor and overseeing construction/commissioning, including Grid Connection and Compliance Testing.
- Follow IMS requirements and contribute to its effectiveness through participation and consultation.
- Ensure Quality Assurance and Quality Control during engineering, construction, pre‑commissioning, and commissioning.
- Develop project quality plan, method statements, quality procedures, inspection/test plans, and checklists.
- Prepare weekly status reports, two‑week look‑ahead inspection programs, daily inspection reports, and monthly progress reports for submission to client.
- Verify, inspect, and witness electrical components in substations (transformers, switchgears, panels, UPS, generators, SCADA systems, etc.).
- Ensure commissioning activities are completed safely, efficiently, and cost‑effectively; confirm PPE availability.
- Participate in EPC contractor progress meetings, interface coordination meetings, and other project meetings; supervise work progress and contractor resources.
Qualification Requirements Education
- Degree: Bachelor and above
- Major: Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current), Protection (Electrical or Technology)
Experience

Certificates
- Professional Registration: ECSA Pr.Eng/Tech/Technologist (or candidate eligible to register)
- Academic Certificates: B.Tech Electrical, BSc or similar (NQF Level 7)
Knowledge & Skills

- Demonstrated knowledge of electrical engineering principles, practices, and methods
- Professional registration (or in process)
- General knowledge of design/simulation software and proficiency in MS Office
