The reason for this role:
The Senior Power Systems Engineer assists with Goldwind Australia’s grid connection studies, technical sales and project support in Australia.
What you will be doing?
- Specify and conduct grid interconnection studies and models (e.g., PSS/e, PSCAD, PowerFactory etc).
- WTG-level control design and configuration (active and reactive power control logic/philosophy, etc.).
- Generator and power systems modelling and analysis at all project stages (S, D, R1 and R2) including Generator Performance Standards (GPS) preparation.
- Liaise with R&D team in Australia and China.
- Undertake design, installation, commissioning and testing of grid monitoring equipment and control systems including the preparation of commissioning and testing plans.
- Undertake grid compliance studies and analysis for future and under-development projects (including S, D and R1 data preparation).
- Undertake PSSE modelling and benchmarking with PSCAD to ensure compliance with NER/AEMO requirements.
- Undertake GPS compliance testing and model validation (R2) testing and reporting.
- Support and confirm GPS studies match WTG performance.
- Technical support of Control and SCADA initiatives to meet the relevant technical design, construction, maintenance, and regulatory needs of Goldwind Australia’s wind farms.
- Provide technical support and assistance to external customers on the capabilities of Goldwind products under the direction of the Bid/Commercial Manager.
What does your background look like?
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant Engineering discipline (electrical power).
- Specific experience in Senior Power Systems Engineering (including proficiency in PSCAD and PSS/E or similar tools), along with demonstrable understanding of the technical requirements of the National Electricity Rules. Experience in completing Generator Performance Standards documents and reports is essential.
- Ability to manage complex technical issues.
- Knowledge of the NER and practices within the NEM as they apply to assessing generator technical performance.
- Desired: Specific experience in SCADA and controls engineering. Experience in Australian renewables industry.
